Sunday 20th December 2026 | Clogheen, Co. Tipperary

Experience the magic of a winter sunrise from one of Tipperary’s most spectacular mountain viewpoints.

Join us for a truly special Winter Solstice experience as we make our way to the summit of Knockshanahullion, high above Clogheen in the beautiful Galty Vee Valley.

As the first light of dawn breaks across the mountains, we will gather at the summit beside an ancient Bronze Age burial mound to welcome the rising sun and celebrate this special time of year.

At 652 metres above sea level, Knockshanahullion offers breathtaking panoramic views across the Galtee, Knockmealdown, Ballyhoura, Comeragh and Slievenamon mountains. On a clear morning, you may even catch a glimpse of Carrauntoohil, Ireland’s highest mountain.

But the experience doesn’t end at the summit!

After our descent, we will return to the beautifully decorated, historic Clogheen Community Hall, where a warm welcome awaits with hot breakfast refreshments, live music and wonderful festive atmosphere.

It is a magical combination of nature, history, walking, community and Christmas spirit.
