Description

Check in Clogheen Community Centre. Bus will transfer participants to walk start point. Right from the off the trails are adorned with rhododendrons in full bloom walking along the National Waymarked Trails of the Tipperary Heritage Way and East Munster Way. The trails goes deep into Kilballyboy Woods, then under the renowned beauty spot The Vee before ascending upto the iconic hairpin bend which Johnny Cash travelled in 1959 and inspired him to write 40 Shades of Green as he looked down on the Galty Vee Valley below. The trail continues along mountain paths towards Grubbs Monument to give even better views of the valley below. The trail then makes its way across the valley to Bay Lough surrounded in a canopy of rhododendrons. Follow another National Waymarked Trail, the Blackwater Way back to Clogheen along rhododendron lined trails.

Check out at Clogheen Community Hall with hot meal and desert afterwards while being entertained with music on stage.

This walk is ideal for those with moderate trail walking experience and fitness.
