After checking in at Clogheen Community Centre. You will walk from the village deep into the Galty Vee Valley on this wondeful trail in a sea of pink and purple Rhododendrons in full bloom at the foothills of the Knockmealdown mountains above Clogheen.
Starting off on the combined National Waymarked Trails of the East Munster Way and Blackwater Way on a footpath leading in the woods. The trails then winds its way through rhododendron laden trails as it makes its way above the tree line to give spectacular views across the Galty Vee Valley.
A wall built in famine times will guide walkers along the trail as it heads for Bay Lough shimmering under a stunning backdrop of rhododendrons in full bloom.
The trail then picks up another National Waymarked Trail in the Tipperary Heritage Way as it heads to another stunning valley of rhododendrons in full bloom at Loughglen’s Bridge. Continuing on the Tipperary Heritage Way until it turns to again pick up the East Munster Way and then the Blackwater Way back to Clogheen.
After checking back in at Clogheen Community Hall, you will enjoy a hot meal while being entertained with live music on stage
This walk is ideal for those with moderate to good trail walking experience aswell as a good level of fitness.
